Hair bows have been around for centuries as fashion statements or simply keeping hair out of your face. There are many different types of hair bows ranging from hair barrettes with bows attached and hair bows that are tied directly to the hair. You can always buy them at a store, but there is something always special about making your own.

The Simple Bow Materials you need:
Approximately 1.3 to 1.5 meters of wired ribbon,
2 to 2.5 inches wide Craft wire,
5 inches of wired ribbon,
1 to 1.5 inches wide 2 to 3 inch barrette.

Step 1: With the long ribbon, make two 4 inch loops While leaving a 5 inch tail, make a 4 inch loop and hold just like the picture. Now make another 4 inch loop on the other side by bringing the ribbon over and crossing with the first loop. This should give you the bow shape.

Step 2: Make the 3rd loop Make another 4 inch loop by bringing the ribbon under and holding it with our fingers.

Step 3: Direct the ribbon to the other side of the tail. After making two 4 inch loops, make sure that the tail is between the ribbon and the second loop.

Step 4: Make a 4th loop Move the ribbon over by putting the end of the ribbon under the top layer of ribbon in the center and put it between the 1st and 3rd loops.

Step 5: Trim the extra ribbon. Match the length of the short tail and cut the rest of the ribbon accordingly. You can make it cute by cutting in a triangle.

Step 6: Wrap wire around the bow So that the bow will hold, use the craft wire and fasten it around the center of the bow. Use the small ribbon (about 5 inches in length) to cover the wire. Sew or glue the extra ribbon around the center.

Step 7: Put the barrette on one side, glue the barrette on.

You can always decorate the other side with other accessories or use another color ribbon to decorate the center fold.
